What is the best way to learn a new language?

Explicit and implicit methods are immersion-style classroom teaching. Mr.Ullnan said he was surprised to find that combining the two methods might not help the brain in processing the new language. From this research the immersion group showed full native-like processing of the grammar. Still, he said teachers should not make any curriculum changes based on his finding.

Using Comic Strips in Language Classes

Comic are usually funny so applying them to methodological purposes will have the same effect as using games in teaching English. Comic strips not only amuse and interest L2 students. There are plenty of other reasons to use them in education.
Oller’s episode hypothesis, John Oller and his episode hypothesis “texts which are more episodically organized can be stored and recalled more easily than less episodically organized material”. The students can follow the story line step by step and can recall its structure more easily. Oller’s theory can be applied in the case of comic strips used in the language class. The visual nature of comic strips also helps to increase motivation and more importantly. The learner will memorize and recall it more easily. Comic strips improve communicative competence and are used in spoken, colloquial. Consequently, comic strips help students to deal with spoken and even informal language. Comic strips are authentic and using authentic material is very important in language teaching and learning. There are many sample exercises to practice.
Comic strips are not only for fun in language class, but there are also methodological reasons for teachers to use them. Comic strips provide the structure and stimulus to which students respond. It helps students to acquire vocabulary, grammatical and communicative competence. When I’m a teacher, I will use comic strips to teach in the language class because it can help students to learn many skills.

More Option for Learning Online

In America, college costs are rising and they are not enough jobs for people but employees said that they cannot find enough workers with technical skills. Online classes might offer solution.
Students can often take these classes at little or no cast. Lynda.com is one website with online classes. Its offers different ways to learn. Students can listen to lecture at home by using online classes. Experts said it will have a major effect on colleges and in the future it is helping students in person. A college education must lead to skills that employers need.
Online classes are one of opportunity for employers to learn skills at home. College should lead the skills that they need because they can use it for their job very well.

How to Teach English with Technology

The use of new technologies in English language teaching has experienced an increment in the last years. However, very little has been published so far on the how-to aspect of technology integration in this context. Two recent books fill in this gap: Blended Learning and How to Teach English with Technology. I adopted both publications for my computer-assisted language learning (CALL) course last semester, and my students, who are pre-service English teachers, welcomed them warmly. Part of my students’ enthusiasm stems from the fact that the publications allowed them to see in practice what they had learnt in theory. Informed by the latest developments in language teaching theory and practice, these books cover many of the growing range of technologies used in ELT and offer practical ideas which teachers can incorporate into their teaching.
Both publications are consistent with an ‘electronic literacy approach’ ( Shetzer and Warschauer 2000), which views technology not just as an aid for language learning but rather as an important new medium of literacy in its own right. According to this approach, language teaching professionals who have access to computer technology are in a good position to teach students not only language but also valuable skills and strategies in using computer technology that can help them to cope with the requirements of the information technology society. Another key concept in the books under review is technology integration. Therefore, the main rationale underlying both publications is that technology use should be an integral part of the teaching and learning process and not a discrete activity to be undertaken in isolation of the rest of the learning. The books then provide very practical and exciting ideas on how teachers can go about developing effective ways of putting these principles into practice.
